Space Optical Systems Research Engineer

Job Summary

As a Space Optical Systems Research Engineer, you will be responsible for researching, designing, developing, and validating precision opto-mechatronic systems for satellite laser communication applications. Working within a multidisciplinary R&D environment, you will play a key role in developing innovative optical systems, beam steering technologies, and precision control solutions for the aerospace and defense industries.

Roles and responsibilities

• Design and develop precision opto-mechatronic systems for space and satellite applications.

• Research and develop Fast Steering Mirror (FSM) technologies for laser beam stabilization.

• Design, optimize, and validate Pointing, Acquisition & Tracking (PAT) systems.

• Participate in the development and integration of Satellite Laser Communication Terminals (LCT).

• Develop precision control algorithms and embedded software for high-accuracy optical systems.

• Conduct system integration, laboratory validation, environmental testing, and performance verification.

• Perform research, analysis, and optimization of optical, mechanical, and control system performance.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop innovative aerospace solutions.

• Prepare technical documentation, research reports, and engineering design specifications.

Mandatory Requirements

• Master’s degree or PhD’s degree in Physics, Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Control Engineering, or a related field.

• Entry-level candidates and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

• Zero to two years of relevant professional experience.

• Strong analytical, engineering, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary R&D environment.

• Professional working proficiency in English.

• Korean language proficiency is an added advantage.
